Wade Douglas (Doug) Butler, age 59, of Hot Springs, died of cancer Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Arkansas Hospice in St. Joseph Health Center, Hot Springs.

A carpenter by trade, Doug managed both residential and commercial construction projects across the United States and overseas. He traveled periodically throughout the Caribbean and in Central America and had lived and worked in Japan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and learning about ancient cultures such as the Mayan civilization. Doug was a 1970 graduate of Lakeside High School.

Doug was born on December 10, 1952 in Hot Springs. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Camilla Ann Butler and mother, Jane Burks Butler.

He is survived by his father, Wade Butler, of Hot Springs; brother, Mark (Debby) Butler and nephew, Blake, of Hot Springs; children Daniel (Jennifer) Winn of Hot Springs, Tracie (Tim) Woodall of Hot Springs and Brandye (Nick) McCue of Hagerville; seven precious grandchildren, Madison, Preston, Gabriel and Layla Winn of Hot Springs, Katie and Chloe Woodall of Hot Springs, and Zachary Vance of Hagerville; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and a cadre of dear friends who helped him through his final days.

A memorial service is being planned for February 18, 2012; additional information will be available at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Doug's family and friends wish to thank the staff of Arkansas Hospice for the care and comfort they provided him both at home and as an inpatient.
