Alvin B. Green, 85, of the Maple Springs community, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, in a Newport hospital.

Born June 4, 1912, in Floral, he was the son of Walter Green and Jezzie Kelly Green.

He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Leona St. John Green; a son, Bobby "Bob" Green of Oil Trough; three daughters, Dorothy Wymer and Leneva Allhands, both of Newport, and Sue Ermert of Collierville, Tenn.; three brothers, Onan Green of Maple Springs, Manuel Green of Newport and Romey Green of El Centro, Calif.; a sister, Goldie Todd of Maple Springs; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Alvin Green Jr.; a grandson, Brandon Ermert; three brothers; and two sisters.

The funeral began at 2 p.m. today at the White River Baptist Church at Oil Trough with the Rev. Thurlo Lee officiating.

Burial was in Maple Springs Cemetery at Oil Trough under the direction of Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers were Marty Green, Dr. Michael Green, Reid Ermert, Kimmy Looney, Dean Green and Stanley Montgomery.
