Charles Edward "Bill" Adams, 77, of 9003 East S.R. 56, Vevay, near Brooksburg, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Wheaton, Ill., the son of Charles and Louise Lanham Adams. He was a master carpenter and furniture maker all his adult life, being employed early in life as an auto body repairman for Middleton's Garage in Vevay. Later he worked at Perk's Garage and at Standerford's Ford Garage, both in Madison. He then worked as a welder for the former Williamson Heater. He also helped his mother operate Heath's Grocery & General Store in Brooksburg from 1988 to 1998. He was a member of the Brooksburg Baptist Church; the Vevay American Legion, Post 185; and the Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5396. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf.
Surviving are his wife, Patsy Lou Green Adams, whom he married Sept. 28, 1951; two sons, Charles N. Adams of Brooksburg and Douglas W. Adams of Bordentown, N.J.; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, in 1937; his mother, Louise Lanham Adams Heath, March 4, 1998; his stepfather, Clyde Heath, Feb. 26, 1967; one brother, James Heath, Feb. 6, 1970; three stepbrothers, Carroll E. "Boo" Heath, Aug. 21, 1999; Everett and Ralph Heath; and one sister, Mary Virginia Giesler.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Brooksburg Baptist Church, with cremation to follow.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay; and from 1 p.m. until time of the service Sunday at the church.
Military honors will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home by the Vevay American Legion and Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Brooksburg Baptist Church. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
