Funeral services will be held Monday, February 6, 2012 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton for Adam Royer, age 81, who passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 at his residence in Vatican.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Henry J. Broussard, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Royer was a native and a lifelong resident of Vatican. He retired from the Superstore after forty-one years of service. He also worked at Evangeline Downs, Auto Rental and Acadiana Dodge. Mr. Royer was a parishioner of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton.
Survivors include his wife of sixty two years, Helen Mire Royer of Vatican; one daughter, Dianna Veillon and her husband, Carl, of Ossun; three sons, Kenneth Royer and his wife, Patsy, of Carencro, Wayne Royer and his wife, Priscilla, of Scott and Danny Royer and his wife, Lisa, of Vatican; five grandchildren, Kimberly Landry and her husband, Chad, Jude Veillon and his wife, Michelle, David Royer and his wife, Carla, Lance Royer and Kyle Royer; six great grandchildren, Bailey Landry, Laudun Landry, Ty Veillon, Brooke Veillon, Brittany Veillon and Tucker Royer; three sisters, Mary Lois Royer of Scott, Darnel Royer of Carencro and Priscilla Meche and her husband, Victorian "Zach", of Cankton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ned Royer and the former Lovenia Comeaux, both natives of Ossun; his mother-in-law, Arthermise Richard Mire; and his father-in-law, Duplex Mire.
Pallbearers will be Jude Veillon, Lance Royer, Carl Veillon, Victorian Meche, Andrus Mire and Wayne Royer. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Landry, Daniel Leger and Ty Veillon.
Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
