CHERRYFIELD - Donald L. Backman, Jr.,60, died at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Born at Beals July 1, 1932, he was the son of Donald and Hildreth (Alley) Backman. He was a longtime employee of Linnehan Ford of Ellsworth until becoming the sales manager of Blueberry Ford in Cherryfield in 1991. During the Korean War he served as a boson's mate third class on the Destroyer USS NOA. He was an active menber of the Narraguagus Snowmobile Club of Cherryfield and the Milbridge-Cherryfield Rotary Club. He was also a member and past master of the Winter Harbor Lodge #192 AF&AM.
Surviving are his wife, Leah Backman, Rebecca Backman of FL; mother Hildreth Alley Backman.
