Mrs. Gt. De Zeeuw Passes On Sunday

Mrs. Gerrit De Zeeuw, nee Kate Wassenaar, passed on after an extended illness August 24th at the age of nearly 57 years. She was taken to the Doornink hospital May 22nd of this year.

Mrs. De Zeeuw was born on a farm west of Orange City Aug. 28, 1887, and resided with her parents until her marriage to Gerrit De Zeeuw. The couple farmed 5 miles northwest of Orange City; where she lived until taken to the hospital.

Surviving are her husband, seven children, namely: Bert of Hull, Dora (Mrs. Pete Mantel) of Rock Rapids; Henrietta (Mrs. Barney Zigtema), Orange City; Nellie (Mrs. Fred De Weerd), Sioux Center; Gerrit at home; Cathryn (Mrs. Henry Vande Berg), Orange City; Melvin, at home, and 11 grandchildren; also three sisters and two brothers: Anna (Mrs. Ben Apenhorst) Greenleafton, Minn.; William Wassenaar, Muskegon, Mich.; Johanna (Mrs, Arie De Raad) of California; Sarah (Mrs. Cornie Popma) Ireton; and Capt. Peter Wasenaar, somewhere in China.

Funeral services were held Monday at the home and. in the 1st Ref. church at Sioux Center with Rev. L. Brunsting officiating. Interment was in the Sioux Center cemetery.

Many relatives and friends were present at the services. Those from Orange City were Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit J. Raak, Mrs. G. Klay, Mrs. Minnie Duven, the Ike De Jong family, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Wassenaar.
