The son of William Wallace & Mary Bradford (Adams) Wyman. Came to California with his parents in 1855. When the Civil War broke out he enlisted 10 Jul 1861 in Company B, 5th Regiment California Volunteers. Spent the winter of 1861 & 1862 in Sacramento City drilling. In the Spring of 1862 he was ordered south, and served 3 years in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. He attained the rank of Corporal and was mustered out 12 Dec 1864 at Franklin, TX.

He married Mary E. Taylor of Dobbins, where her parents ran a stopping place for freight teamsters. Horace had a ranch near his folks, but also followed road construction.

William and Mary were the parents of ten children: Horace W., Charles H ., Edwin Loren, William Irvin, Wallace Irving a twin of William, Ernest Albert, Sarah "Sadie" Adelaide, Roy Adams, Ellis Taylor and Frank Harbor.

AN OLD MAN DIED IN YARD
HORACE WYMAN FOUND DYING AT HIS HOME AT STANFIELD HILL.
Horace Wyman died yesterday at his home at Stanfield Hill. He was found in his yard by J. H. Higgins in a dying condition. He died shortly after the discovery was made, and Coroner Kelly of this city left for that place to take charge of the remains. Deceased was a native of England and aged 65 years, and leaves a wife, one daughter and ten sons. – He has been employed at Cran*** Mills. – The funeral will take place this morning at 10 o'clock, and the remains will be interred in the Upham Cemetery.
