Ruth Albritton Wroten was born Nov. 24, 1920, in Bude, Miss., and passed away on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge, at the age of 91. She resided in Baker, where she lived in her own house for the previous 56 years. She loved God, her family and her church, and never met anyone in whom she couldn't see their full potential. She was often the person people would go to and ask for prayer. In many cases, she was already praying for people, even when they didn't know they needed her prayers. She retired from BREC and was the first clerk at Greenwood Golf Course in Baker, where she learned to play and enjoy golf with her lady friends, as well as encouraging her two sons to carry on this lifetime activity.

Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Monday, Feb. 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. until religious services in the chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. B.K. Miller. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by her three children, Karen Wroten Day and husband Tom, Ed Wroten and wife Marilyn, and Wayne Wroten and wife Mary; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Robyn Day, Jason and Terri Day, Doug Day, David and Nathalie Day, Chris and Sarah Wroten, Suzanne and Clint Beck, Rebekah and Josh Carroll, Michael Wroten and Erin Mullins, Matthew and Cori Wroten, and Kathryn Wroten; 19 great grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elizabeth Albritton; three brothers, Albert, Jimmy and Bill Albritton; and two sisters, Maud Miller and Lillian Whitfield. Pallbearers will be her seven grandsons, Jeff, Jason, Doug and David Day, and Chris, Michael and Matthew Wroten.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 3213 Groom Road, Baker, LA 70714, St. Joseph Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, or a charity of your choice . Perfect, she probably was not, but to those of us that loved her, a saint God surely gave us, and we were truly blessed.
