PORTSMOUTH - Dorothy Stewart Black, 81, passed away Jan. 25, 2009.
Born in Tennessee, Dorothy was retired from Virginia Marine Terminals in Norfolk and Portsmouth. She was the widow of John A. Black II and is survived by a sister, Jeanetta Proctor; a close cousin, Carolyn Henriksen and her husband John; other cousins, Marilyn Dovel, Barbara Murry and Beverly Price; and many special friends, including Linda Cadotte, Elaine Jones, Ruby Belch, Melesa Chainey, Becky McKena, Jennifer Barka, John and Beth Tynch, and Sandra Bryan.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, with the Rev. Ellen W. Comstock officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
