Born in Tennessee, Dorothy was retired from Virginia Marine Terminals in Norfolk and Portsmouth. She was the widow of John A. Black II and is survived by a sister, Jeanetta Proctor; a close cousin, Carolyn Henriksen and her husband John; other cousins, Marilyn Dovel, Barbara Murry and Beverly Price; and many special friends, including Linda Cadotte, Elaine Jones, Ruby Belch, Melesa Chainey, Becky McKena, Jennifer Barka, John and Beth Tynch, and Sandra Bryan.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, with the Rev. Ellen W. Comstock officiating. Burial will be private.
