Patriot Mordecai Miller was born on Dec 22 1755 in North Carolina and died February 12, 1843. At the age of fifteen he entered the Army as a substitute for David Henderson in 1770. The object of that expedition was to guard the frontier against the Cherokee Indians for a term of thirty days. He was drafted for several more short terms of service until he volunteered for seven years of service with the South Carolina Militia fighting the British. Miller died in Morgan county but was buried in Hendricks Co.
