Marie Collop, 89, of Rt. 5, Kirksville died at 7:14 a.m. Friday (Oct. 25, 1985) at Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center. She had been in failing health for several years and seriously ill for three days.
Born Oct. 18, 1896 in Adair county, she was the daughter of
William and Elizabeth (Dodge) Gordon. In October, 1915 in Adair county, she married Birthel Edward Collop who preceded her in death on March 29, 1957.
Also preceding her in death were four sisters; one brother and a granddaughter.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Collop and Charles Collop both of Rt. 5, Kirksville; four daughters, Rowena Rudiger of Rt. 5, Kirksville, Frances Stevens of Tampa, Fla., Dorothy Slocum of Alta Loma, Calif., and Winifred Purgason of West Plains; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Collop was a lifelong resident of Adair county. She and her husband had farmed northeast of Kirksville most of their married life. She was a member of the East Center Church and the East Center Extension Club.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday (Oct. 28, 1985) at the Davis-Playle Chapel with the Rev. Walter Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hills cemetery. Bearers will be Wayne Rudiger, Don Slocum, Mark Stevens, Ron Rudiger, Ellis Collop and Marvin Collop.
