Charles married Jane Webber November 2, 1859 in Lyons, Ionia County, Michigan.

Charles was the son of Major and Mrs. Dorus M. Fox of Lyons, Michigan. Lieut Fox died of his wounds from the Battle at Tyree Springs, Tennessee. his father accompanied his body home to Michigan for burial.
