The family moved since the 1880 census and in 1900 were living in Franklin Township, Newton Co., Missouri. Meanwhile, Richard, Genette and Lucy had moved to the Custer County, Oklahoma Territory probably in about 1897 as the first land patent was approved in 1902. Richard Thomas, Lucy Catherine, and Victoria Belle all homesteaded in Custer County, around Hammon, Clinton area in Oklahoma.
