Lydia Anna was the daughter of John Ulrick Smith (Schmidt). She and her family came to America from Germany on the same ship as the family of Mathias Wessinger. She married Mathias Wessinger, Jr. on February 10, 1771. She and Mathias are buried in the Wessinger Cemetery which is now under Lake Murray.

A gravestone was placed in Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery in White Rock in memory of some of the people buried in the cemeteries under Lake Murray.
