A very singular incident occurred at Asbury Chapel last Sunday during divine services. The Rev. Benjamin, the M. E. minister on the Hartsville circuit, had just concluded his discourse, and requested Joseph Blair to lead the congregation in prayer, which he proceeded to do, but before he had proceeded far he was taken with fit of apoplexy and immediately expired, while kneeling. This sudden death created profound sensation in the congregation. The audience was deeply and sensibly excited, as the visitation of death under such singular and unexpected circumstances, took all by surprise and created the deepest astonishment. Joseph Blair has been a local preacher in the eastern part of this county and the western part of Decatur, for a number of years. He is an old and well respected citizen, and many will regret his sudden and singular departure.
