WESTLAKE, Ohio — Hazel M. Beuchat (nee Reisinger), 98, of Westlake, Ohio, and formerly of Cochranton, beloved wife of Carl (deceased) and dear mother of Gayle Cilimburg of Rocky River, Ohio, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, in Westlake.

Hazel was born in Cochranton on May 2, 1913, to Elmer and Katherine (Barnhart) Reisinger. On Aug. 26, 1938, she married Carl Beuchat. They had been married 66 years prior to his death in 2005.

She graduated from Cochranton High School in 1931 and from Meadville City Hospital Nursing School in 1934.

Following graduation, she did private duty nursing at both City and Spencer Hhospitals as well as in private homes in the area. In 1955, Hazel joined the nursing staff at Meadville City Hospital, working for nearly two years as a staff nurse and then became a head nurse on the medical and surgical departments in 1956. She was promoted to the position of day supervisor in 1960, a position she held until her retirement on Oct. 1, 1976.

Hazel enjoyed traveling and was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Cochranton where she served many years as both a lector and a Eucharistic minister prior to moving to Westlake in 2002.

In addition to her husband and parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward Reisinger (Alvena) and Russell Reisinger (Kathryn); sisters Grace Coon, Bernice Colwell (Wayne), Irene Coon (Carmen), Mary Curtis (Jack) and infant sister Geraldine; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Louise and James Hinckley and Alice and Merle Dunn; and nieces and nephews, Robert Roberts, Michael Coon, Richard Dunn (wife Peg surviving), Mary Lou (Sis) Kightlinger (husband Dan surviving), Jim Dunn and Tommy Dunn. Beside her daughter, surviving nieces and nephews are Elizabeth Stanton (Bob), Janice Coon Smith (William, deceased), Scott Reisinger (Nita), Mary Jayne Kitt (Bernie), Nancy Plain (Richard, deceased), Carol Babbitt (Don, deceased), John Dunn (Sandy) and Lynn Wentworth (John).

She was a lifelong friend to many.

Friends may call at McGorray-Hanna Funeral Home of Westlake, 25620 Center Ridge Road (just west of Columbia), Monday from 2 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 20141 Detroit Road, Rocky River.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon, Ohio.
