Washington--Bernice P.(Butler) Jones, 92, of Washington, died at 5:20 p.m.Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Born Jan. 27, 1919, in Lost River Township in Martin County, she was the daughter of Joel and Ethel (Hensler) Butler. A 1937 graduate of Shoals High School, she was a former seamstress at Reliance Mfg. Co. Loogootee Textile and UniRoyal and retired NASCO. She cared for the elderly after retirement. She was a member of Hudsonville United Methodist Church and Omega Alpha Chi Sorority. She was active in her church as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer and played the piano and organ. She was very interested in family genealogy. She survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Bruce Colbert of Washington and Mary and Robert Doane of Shoals; grandchildren, Michael Colbert, Danny Doane and Eric Doane; six great-grandchildren;three stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-grea-grandchildren;two stepgreat-great grandchildren;and a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Betty Butler of Shoals. Her husband, Alexander "Zan" Jones, whom she married Aug 20 1939, died May 27, 1968. A sister, Mable Butler; a brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Irene Butler;and brothers John and Howard Butler are also deceased. The funeral will be at 1 p.m.Saturday at Hudsonville United Methodist Church, with Jean Corbin officiating. Burial will be in New Veale Creek Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8p.m. Friday at Gill Chapel and after 11 a.m.Saturday at the church memorial donations may be made to Hudsonville United Methodist Church.
