Services for Jearl L. Wiggins, 78, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Franklin Bartley Chapel with the Rev. John H. Ballard officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Franklin Bartley Funeral Home.

He died on Monday, Feb. 12, 2001.

He was born on Oct. 20, 1922, in Linden. He married Reba Thornley on Aug. 29, 1948, in Muleshoe. He was a resident of Lubbock since 1947.

He graduated from Linden High School in 1940. He earned a bachelor's degree in business in 1949 and a master's degree in education in 1955 from Texas Tech University.

He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He earned the American Theater Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Ribbon, a service stripe and a overseas Service Bar.

He was a salesman in retail construction from 1950 until 1975 for various companies. In 1975, he became co-owner and president of Brunson Brick and Stone Inc. until he retired in the early 1980s.

He had been a member of Second Baptist Church since the early 1960s. He was a past member of the South Plains Lion's Club.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary and Kenneth, both of Lubbock; a sister, Margaret Lovelace of Linden; and three grandchildren.
