Dorothy, 84, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 4 at Merle Hay Funeral Home, where her family will greet friends beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Dorothy Darlene Milton, the daughter of George and Adeline (Laidley) Mains, was born July 30, 1927 in Linden, Iowa. She graduated from Panora High School in 1945. Dorothy was united in marriage with John Milton on September 3, 1948. She had worked for the Des Moines Public Schools. Dorothy was an avid bowler at Plaza Lanes, and she and John liked traveling to bowling and tennis tournaments. She was also John's biggest tennis fan.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings: Bill Mains, Gladys Grant, Virginia Hamlin, and Nancy Weeces.

Those left to remember Dorothy include her loving husband of 63 years, John; her children: Steve (Christina), Mark, and Janet (Steve) Craig; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
