On April 7, 1941, a Delayed Certificate of Birth was issued to his mother. She wrote that he was born on Ferry Street in East Bank, WV but his obituary says Cedar Grove which is across the river.

Ralph M. "Ritchie" Batton, 88, of Fayetteville died Dec. 1, 1995, in a Beckley hospital after a short illness.

He was born in Cedar Grove. He was a retired auditor for the state Department of Agriculture.

Surviving: wife, Virginia Keller Batton of Fayetteville; daughters, Virginia Vanden Durrett of Charlton Heights, Carolyn K. Thomas of Ocala, Fla.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Burial will be in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

There will be no visitation.
