Along with his wife, Carol, survivors include three daughters, Kathy (Todd) Allsop of Granger, Diane Smith of Lakeville, and Linda (James) Wickizer of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, David and Katie Allsop, Heather (Brian) Gleva, Dustin Smith, Ryan and Kyle Wickizer; his twin sister, Sally (Art) Poeske of Gilbert, AZ; and three brothers, John (Dorothy) Albert of South Bend, Fred (Marge) Albert of Niles, MI, and Frank (Kay) Albert of South Bend.
Mr. Albert attended the Teegarden United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion, North Liberty. He retired from Bendix Corporation and General Motors where he worked as a millwright. Mr. Albert enjoyed gardening in his very large garden, playing cards with friends and reading westerns. He also enjoyed making wooden toys for his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Tim Davis, pastor of Teegarden United Methodist Church, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 24th and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Teegarden United Methodist Church or to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
