FROSTBURG — Betty Ann Hanna, 78, of Frostburg, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at her home.

Born in Frostburg on Aug. 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses and Ethlyn (Hughes) Hanna. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Hanna; aunts, Rachel Hughes and Marian Bond; and a sister-in-law, Frances Hanna.

Miss Hanna was a graduate of Beall High School and Frostburg State University.

She taught school in Montgomery County and Allegany County. She educated students Bruce High School and Beall High School. She was a lifelong member of Welsh Memorial Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the WMU, the Pioneer Class, a Deaconess for the church, and she was a choir director for an excess of 50 years. She was a member of Maplehurst Country Club, where she won more women's club championships than anyone in Maplehurst history. She was also a member of the Women's Golf Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and on the Board of Directors at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Betty Ann enjoyed serving the Lord, golfing, and traveling.

Surviving are her brother, Glenn U. "Speed" Hanna, of Frostburg; her lifelong friend, Dru Shriner, of Frostburg; nephews, G. Gary Hanna, of Frostburg and Bruce K. Hanna and wife Terri, of Frostburg; niece, Cynthia F. Livingston and husband Kerry, of Frostburg; cousins, Anne Wehler and husband Lewis, Sid Hanna, Karen Youngblood, Elizabeth Kallmyer, Linda DiGilarmo and husband Ray, Griffith Eisel, and Mary Reidler, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Betty Ann was especially appreciative for the love and care she received from friends and care givers over the recent years.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Welsh Memorial Baptist Church, 17 Beall St., Frostburg, on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Thomas Winborn officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour before the services.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Wehler, Ervin Wampler, Tom Bond, Ryan Kentrus, Kerry Livingston, and George Reidler. Honorary pallbearers are Arthur Bond and Lenny Youngblood.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
