McKee Hawley, aged 85, pioneer rancher of the Sweet Grass Hills died last Thursday, Dec. 16. Death, attributed to a heart ailment occured at the Hawley ranch near Whitlash, where the deceased had lived continuously for the past 35 or forty years. He was one of the oldest inhabitants of the Hills region. Partly Indian, he came to Montana in 1885 from Washington and lived the life of a pioneer plainsman.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother. He was buried beside them at Havre Sunnday after services had been held at the
Ohester Community church.
