Kermit and Martin were not adopted by Clingman. They merely assumed the name.

Dora did not have three children with Mr. Clingman. She only had two. Vance was Corwin's middle name. There was a total of four sons: Kermit Frederick; Martin Theodore, Jr.; Corwin Vance and Howard Russell.

KERMIT F. CLINGMAN
Services for Kermit F. Clingman, 63, of 4023 Douglas Ave. will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Westover Funeral Home, with burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Clingman died of a heart attack at his home Monday after a two-year illness.
He was born in Dallas, Ia., and lived in Melcher and Loveland, Colo., before coming to Des Moines 31 years ago. He was a retired cook at the Veterans Hospital and a member of the Culinary Association.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn C.; three sons, Glenn of Beale Air Force Base, Calif., James of Des Moines, and Fred of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Mrs. Janice Andersen of Des Moines, and Mrs. Karen Rubino of Rockford, Ill.; his mother, Mrs. Dora C. Clingman of Melcher; three brothers, Martin and Russell, both of Des Moines, and Vance of Knoxville, and 10 grandchildren.

Kermit was adopted by Dora (Goering) Heinke's second husband, Gary E. Clingman (1878-1954). Dora (1882-1979) was first married to Pastor Fred Heinke's son, Martin Heinke (1883-1911), on 11-24-1906. Martin drowned while swimming on an outing when Dora was pregnant with their second child, Martin Jr. After she married Gary Clingman, he adopted the two boys and they had 3 more boys - Corvin, Vance and Russell.
