Mary Elizabeth Stevens (Maybin) was orphaned at a very young age (8yrs old) and sent to live with relatives in Pennsylvania. She married Clarence Fredrick Stevens and had 4 children Susan Frances, Frederick Mark, Mark Marion and Lisa Marie.

She returned to college after her youngest was in school and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in California--where she settled in with her family and husband.

Financially, she did her best with what she had, although she was often forced to do without in support of her children. Her husband was in the Army and was assigned to Fort Benning, GA, leaving Mary home trying to support her family on a modest Army income.

She dreamed of visiting Australia someday, but became ill and was hospitalized with Cancer at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital in Salinas, CA where she died after a Cancerous tumor on her liver burst during the night on the 12th of June 1991.

She left this world with little fanfare and no funeral services by her choice. She was cremated and her ashes were scattered over the Pacific Ocean by Point Lobos, Carmel, California--one of her favorite spots to visit.
