Katherine "Kitty" Barron Mahoney was called home by her Savior on Jan. 4, 1998, to join her husband, Matt, and her sons, Tommy and Jimmy, in eternal rest. Kitty was born on Feb. 12, 1919, in Portsmouth. As a young child, she moved to Newport News, where she continued to reside for the rest of her life. Kitty, a devout Catholic, graduated from Saint Vincent de Paul High School. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse; children; sister, Veronica Stewart; and brother, Bernard Barron.
Kitty attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and was a member of Saint Theresa's Guild. She was also a member of the Woman's Club of Newport News and the Beverly Hills Garden Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, attending local performances, cooking and being with her family and friends.
