Bohn W. Grim, 63, died in Harper Hospital in Detroit Monday morning after a year of illness of cancer.
He was born in DeKalb Co., Ind., June 18, 1903 and moved to Sturgis with his parents in 1913.
He attended Cook School and graduated from Sturgis H.S. in 1923.
Mr. Grim attended Michigan State College where he set a world's record in the 40-yard dash.
The record still stands. During his years at MSC he won many medals and trophies and was
honored as "Sturgis' Greatest Athlete" after his graduation from college.
Mr. Grim was affiliated with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. and was sent to California to set
up a plant near Los Angeles where he met his future wife, Virginia Lee Goran.
After returning to Sturgis, he opened Grim's Super Service which he sold in 1933. At the time of his death, Mr. Grim was president and treasurer of Truck Terminal Station and Warehouse Inc. He was a past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge in Sturgis and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 1, F&AM, in Detroit.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia, 544 Cour Louis, Warren, Mi.; one son, Bill Bohn Grim, of
Wayne, Mi.; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Frank Quimby, of Racine, Wis.; two brothers,
Willard A. (Doc) Grim, of Bismark, N.D. and Forrest L. Grim, of Sturgis; and nieces and
nephews.
The body will be cremated after a memorial service at 3 p.m. Wed., Apr. 12, and the ashes
will be scattered over the grave of his mother, in Oak Lawn Cem., in Sturgis.
