Thomas was in the Civil War. He is listed on the Rolls as Thomas Robinson Robertson. He was in the 5th Independent Ohio Sharpshooters. He could not write his name. He was 6 foot tall with sandy colored hair, blue eyes and light complexion.

Thomas Robertson Woodruff married Jemima Shoemaker on August 2, 1857 in Summit County, Ohio.

Obituary

Thomas R. Woodruff was born in Wayne County, Ohio, December 6, 1833, and died in Wood County, Ohio, November 5, 1907, aged 74 years, 10 months and 29 days. He was united in marriage to Jemima Shoemaker about fifty seven years ago, and to this union were born nine children. Mrs. Woodruff, one son and one daughter preceded him to the Heavenly land. Five sons, two daughters, forty six grand children and four great grand children are left to mourn his death.

Mr. Woodruff has been a member of the Church of God for many years, and was a beautiful Christian. He enlisted in the army December 7, 1863, and served his country until July 6, 1865. He has been a loving husband and father, a good neighbor and citizen and will be missed by all who have known him. For six years he had made his home with his son, Nelson Woodruff, in this city. Funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday at 2:03 p.m. by the pastor of the Radical United Brethen Church, H. Molson. The remains were taken to Risingsun for interment.

The deceased was cared for by his son Nelson Woodruff and family who desire to thank the neighbors here, the friends at Rising Sun, the Grand Army and the minister for their kindness.
