Frankie Lee Whobrey, 65, of Owensboro, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 17, 2012. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran who returned home to a country that had a lot of mixed feelings about the Vietnam War. He returned home lost and had a hard time, but knew in his heart that he went for the right reasons. Now he is at peace with his fellow comrades, his family, his country and himself. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Whobrey Basham; a brother, Mike Whobrey; and grandmother, Arpie Dever. He leaves behind a daughter, Kim Shay; one brother, John W. (Norma) Whobrey; and one sister, Linda (Chip) Gossett; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Hartford with a service to follow. Burial will be at noon Tuesday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville with Military Honors being performed. (Published by Messenger-Inquirer, January 22, 2012)
