Kay Frances Jones, 64, of Jacksonville, Fla., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at St. Vincent"s Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Elmira, N.Y., in 1947 and lived in North Highlands, Calif., and St. Augustine, Fla., before settling in Jacksonville.
She was a homemaker and devoted to raising her daughter Angela. She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth William and Frances Leona Jones.
She is survived by a daughter, Angela Hether Jones (B.M. Curry) Maxville, Fla.; her ex-husband of 22 years, Wilbur Jay Shumaker, Jacksonville; like a son to her Duyane Patrick Milton, Winter Springs, Fla.; three brothers, Dale Kenneth (Melody) Jones, Susanville, Calif., Gary William Jones Sr., Camden-on-Gauley, W.Va., Ted Lee Jones, St. Augustine; Cousin, Beverly (Tom) Quick, Belleview, Fla.; aunt, Lee (Fran) Newkirk, Elmira, N.Y.; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221 (904) 781-4314 with Pastor Abraham L. Nelson officiating, followed by interment in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
