Marguerite passed away peacefully in Snowflake on January 31, 2012 at Webb's Home in Snowflake, Navajo County, Arizona.
She was born November 18, 1917 to Sarah Emma Flake and John Albert Freeman in the John A. Freeman home in Snowflake, Navajo County, Arizona. Marguerite attended schools there and graduated from Snowflake Union High School.
She graduated from beauty school in California, received her Arizona license and worked in or owned several beauty shops before marrying Levi Argyle Shumway in 1937. They enjoyed 35 years of married life in Phoenix before Argyle's death in 1972. Aside from another short stay in California, Marguerite spent the last 40 years as a widow, entirely proud of her status as an "Arizona Native."
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Ellerton of York, England; her son, Ron (Nedra) of Piedmont, California; her brother Carl Freeman of Salt Lake City.
Funeral Services for family and friends will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00 at the Owens Livingston Mortuary - Heritage Chapel 84 E. 19th S. Snowflake, Arizona.
Concluding Services and Interment will be in the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor, Arizona.
