She was born November 25, 1922 in Gunter, Texas to John Vernon and Phalba Susie (Morgan) Webb.
Gwen grew up in Gainesville, Texas and there married Henry Edward "Ed" Tatum on September 28, 1941. She and Ed moved to Mineral Wells before moving to McKinney after WWII. Gwen worked as a sales clerk and then as secretary at Duke & Ayres in McKinney for over 30 years.
Mrs. Tatum was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKinney and is survived by her son, Webb Tatum and his wife Carol of McKinney; grandsons, Tommy Tatum and his wife Jennifer and Michael Tatum; great-grandchildren, Joey and Anthony Tatum.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters; Maureen Webb Ryan and Jennie Webb Munn.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. The family will receive guests prior to service from 1-2 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
