He was born on Wednesday, December 19, 1917 in Joplin, Montana.
Malcolm attended Redondo Union High, graduating from South Bay Adult School after he left school early to help support the family.
During 1945 and 1946 he served in the Army Air Corps as a heavy equipment operator in St. John's, Newfoundland with the Air Transport Command. After taking courses in diesel engineering and electronics he worked as a mechanic and machinist on heavy equipment, boat engines, locomotive engines.
Ted and his wife Mary moved to the central coast 25 years ago from Redondo Beach.
Having the ability to fix just about anything, he loved tingering with all sorts of things from small electronics to huge engines. Obsolete equipment was no problem for him. If he couldn't find a needed part, he would make it. If he didn't have the tool necessary to make the part he would make the tool. At the age of 93 he took the transmission out of his pickup, put it on the bed of the truck, repaired it and put it back in place without any help at all.
Mr. Zoll is survived by his wife of more than 72 years, Mary M. Zoll, daughters, Carolyn Miller and Kathy Wilding, sister, Margaret Kohr and brother, Bob Lee, grandchildren, Kathy Hilstein, Anthony Delia (Mercedes), Loreena Nathe, Timothy Miller (Christine), Diana Bowers (Norm), Edmund Miller (Debbie); 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Annabelle Lee and brothers, William Lee, Vernon Lee and Donald Lee.
