---William L. "Harold" Murphy, 61, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of the Milan area died Wednesday (Mar. 11, 1981) en-route to a hospital in Colorado Springs. He had been in failing health several years.
---The son of Marshall and Opal Pruitt Murphy, he was born Mar. 20, 1919 in Sullivan county. In 1937 he married Violet Asher and to this marriage two children were born. On Sept. 29, 1948 in Sullivan county, he married Violet Fields who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Gary L. Murphy of 804 E. Rena and Ronald Murphy of Colorado Springs, Colo., three daughters, Mary Carol Downing of Memphis, Violet Ellen Jewell of Frankford, Ind. and Linda Williamson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
---He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Richard Murphy in 1970.
---Mr. Murphy was reared in Sullivan county where he received his education. He resided in the Milan and Browning areas before moving to Kirksville where he lived for six years. In 1958 he moved to Colorado where he has since resided.
---During World War II, Mr. Murphy served with the United States Armed Forces.
---Funeral services will be held Saturday morning (Mar. 14, 1981) in Colorado Springs.
---The body is being returned to Schoene-Wade Funeral Home in Milan where funeral services will be held Tuesday.
