Born in the German Flatts section of Mohawk, NY. Daughter of Charles S. Casler and Florence E. Brownrigg Casler.

Her mother's Brownrigg family are decendants of George Robert Twelves Hewes, a member of the famous December 16, 1773 Boston Tea Party.

Her father's Casler family, was one of the original families who settled the Mohawk Valley area of upstate New York. They were part of the German Palatines who fled Germany through England to New York. Four members of this family fought on the American side in the Revolutionary War. Three of the them, under Brigadier General Nicholas Herkimer, at the Battle of Oriskany. One was only 10 years old at the time of the battle, August 6, 1777.

She work at Remington Firearms, Ilion, NY until 1917, when she moved to Hartford, CT to work at Colt Firearms for ten cents more an hour plus a train ticket to Hartford, during World War I. She would work enough years to retire from Colt.

She married Francis William Garry, April 8, 1918, at St. Peter's Church, Hartford, CT. They had four children: Robert Francis (1921), Barbara June (1923), Mary Evelyn (1925), Charles Edward (1927).

Lulu had a Heart Attack while boarding a city bus, and died two hours later at Hartford Hospital.
