Worked in Ilion and Utica, NY until he moved to Hartford, CT during World War I. Worked at Colt Firearms and Empire Steam Laundry. Became a trolley driver until the city busses replaced the trolleys, and became one of the first city bus drivers in Hartford, CT, in the early 1940's.
He married Lulu Dietta Casler, from the Herkimer, NY area, on April 8, 1918 at St. Peter's Church, Hartford, CT. They had four children: Robert Francis (1921), Barbara June (1923), Mary Evelyn (1925), Charles Edward (1927).
