Rollo G Bowling, 80, of 101 E MacArthur St. formerly of 811 E Taylor St., a retired engineer on Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, died at 7:40 a.m. Friday at Mennonite Hospital.

His funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Metzler Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St Mary's Church. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m.

He was born Aug 9, 1900, in Stanford, a son of William E and Amanda Moore Bowling. He married Florence Bowling on Feb 8, 1921 in Bloomington. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, William, 189 Southgate Estates; and James, Centralia; two daughters, Patricia Jennes, Chicago and Dorothea Fitzgerald, 126 S Wright St.; a sister, Eunice Welter, 906 S Clayton St,; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.

He was a member of St Mary's Church, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers, and Eagles Lodge 527.

He retired after 38 years with the railroad.
