MRS. JOSEPH HOWARD
Mrs. Lydia Lumina Howard, wife of Joseph Howard, died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gish, in Harper, Kan., on Monday, July 26th, aged 39 years and 13 days. The body was brought to Larned and the funeral services were held from the Larned Christian church Wednesday morning, the services being conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. C. Harding. Interment was in the Gish family lot in Larned cemetery.
Mrs. Howard was born in Gentry county, Mo., July 13, 1881. She moved to Larned with her parents when a child and grew to womanhood in this city, where she was married to Joseph Howard in 1898. They made their home in Larned until 1904, when they moved to Hutchinson, later going to Kansas City, and for the past two years had lived in St. Louis.
She had been in poor health for over a year, which finally developed into tuberculosis. Early in the spring she came to stay with her parents at Harper, Kan., in the hopes of benefiting her health, and arrangements were all made to take her on to the mountains when the end came suddenly.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two children, Fleeta and Clayton; by her parents, and by one brother, Charles Gish of Hutchinson, all of whom were present at the funeral. Mrs. Howard had been a member of the Christian church for a number of years.
