Loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Gwen Smejkal, 67, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in Alamogordo, NM. Gwen was born on Friday, September 29, 1944 in Littlefield, TX to Ollie W. and Perry Lee (Greathouse) Robnett. Gwen was an active member of the Order of the Amaranth and the Order of the Eastern Star in both Alamogordo and Tularosa. Gwen is survived by her husband, James E. Smejkal of the family home; her daughters; Staci Lee Shain and her husband, Ricky of Alamogordo, NM, Elizabeth Ann Salas of TX, Katrina Lynn Garrett and her husband, Jake of Spring, TX and Sara Layne Randall and her husband, Aaron of Alamogordo, NM; thirteen grandchildren; one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Alamogordo Funeral Home with Pastor Howell Scott and the Order of the Eastern Star officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery with the Order of the Amaranth officiating. Pallbearers will be Jim Yeager, George Bemis, Joe Talvy, Charlie Hall, G. L. Tucker and Jimmie Bridge. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 First St., Alamogordo, NM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or the Charity of your choice. The family has requested casual dress for the services.
