Genevieve was the daughter of Leroy and Dora Alice (Bryan) Johnson.
She was born the 20th of November 1921 in Lafontaine, Wilson County, Kansas. She married at age 15 to Lloyd Leroy Bretches, in April 1937 at Independence, Kansas. Five daughters, Phyllis, Geneva, Joan, Dorothy and a stillborn daughter were born to this union.
She and Lloyd were longtime members of the Neodesha Church of the Nazarene. Both Christians they devoted many hours working for the church functions and enjoyed singing in the choir for the Sunday services.
After Lloyd passed she married Farris Toon of Fredonia, Kansas. He passed in 1997. She later married and divorced O. A. McGuire. She lived her later years near her daughters Dorothy and Geneva in Texas for a few years, then moved to Louisiana to be near her daughter Joan. She was a homemaker and a true Christian. She was active in her church for many years until her health prevented her from actively participating in church activities. She enjoyed sewing, baking, fishing, crafts and painting.
She is buried in the Neodesha Ross Cemetery, in Wilson County, Kansas, next to Lloyd.
