Funeral services were held for Rev. Maxie (Mr. McGoo) Blackwell, Sr., 78, of Richton on Friday, October 10, 2008, at 10 a.m. at First Jesus Name Church of Benndale.

Interment followed in Brown Cemetery with Rev. William Moore and Bro. Colin Rowell officiating the services.

A contractor and member of the First Jesus Name Church of Benndale, he died October 6, 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Easterling Blackwell of Richton; two sons, Mike Blackwell of Pascagoula and Maxie Blackwell, Jr. of Richton; five daughters, Linda Diane Krysytan of Anniston, Ala., Patricia Blackwell of Natchez, Sherry Sigur of Mandeville, La., Marsha Johnson of Hurley and Lisa Cochran of Benndale; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Nell Miller of Laurel.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Allyson Yvette Tomasich.

Pallbearers included Casey Allen Johnson, Jacob Patrick Blackwell, Jesse Kyle Blackwell, James Reid Wood, Maxie Blackwell, Jr. and Daniel Sigur. Honorary pallbearers included Gary Tomasich ad Duane Cochran.
