Vertz, Mrs. Arnold (Violet E.)

Mrs. Arnold (Violet E.) Vertz, 91, Green Bay, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013. She was born February 13, 1922, in Maplewood, WI, the fourth of fifteen children to the late Albert and Melina (Splinger) Delsart. After graduation from Sturgeon Bay High School she was employed by the shipyards in Sturgeon Bay. On June 5, 1943, Violet married Arnold D. Vertz at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Egg Harbor, WI. Violet and Arnold later moved to Green Bay and enjoyed 54 years of marriage prior to Arnold's death in 1998.

Violet has been a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howard for more than 55 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards with the many friends she made through various card clubs over the years.

Violet is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Len and Mary Grace; her grandsons (of whom she was so very proud) and their wives, Tim and Joy, and Jim and Becky; and her great-grandchildren (who always made her face light up), Christiann, Hadley, Flynn and Sawyer. She is further survived by her brothers, Ray Delsart and Ken (Rita) Delsart; her sisters, Pearl Meyer, Fern Schenkelberg, Joyce (Joe Albert); sister-in-law, Rosemary Delsart; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; her parents; her sisters, Lillian (Hank) Schuch, Labelle (Ivan) Leemon and Ruby (Melvin) Kostichka; her sister-in-law, Ellen Delsart; her brothers, Leonard, Clifford, Richard (Kay), Gordon (Dorothy), Millard (Eunice), and Roy (Ruth) Delsart.

Relatives and friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave. (one quarter mile east of the corner of Cardinal Ln. and Glendale Ave.), from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 7. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. John Bergstadt officiating. Burial will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
