Shirley A. Tidd, 73, of Springport and formerly of Homer and Albion, died , November 17, 2009, at her residence.

Mrs. Tidd was born June 16, 1936, in Spring Arbor to Earl and Mary (Taylor) Pelton.

She married James W. Tidd in Homer July 2, 1955. He survives.

She came to Homer as a child and moved to Albion in 1980.

She was a 1954 graduate of Homer High School and attended Western Michigan University.

She was the former office manager of Calhoun Foundry in Homer.

She worked with her husband at the Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels as office manager.

She was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church, Duck Lake Country Club and Ladies Association and Hospital Service League.

She had been bridge chairman and currently co-chairman of the bridge club at Duck Lake.

She was chairperson for couples bridge since 1981. She was an avid bridge player and loved to needlepoint.

She was also founder of the book swap club of Duck Lake.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Tidd is survived by a daughter, Robin (Donald) Drumm ; two sons, J. Kevin Tidd (Nancy Travis) and Andrew Scott Tidd (Louise Dean) of ; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorrine Hanks and Jeanne Elder; and five brothers, Paul Truax, and Jim, Ike, Dick and Bob Pelton.

She was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.

Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Homer.
