Mrs. Burks died on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 in Tyler, Texas.
She was born November 2, 1924 in Athens, Louisiana to the late Lon and Mary Anderson Lee.
She was a member of Ross Avenue Baptist Church in Dallas. She was employed for thirty years with Greenville Avenue Bank of Dallas and its successors. She was the first female officer appointed by Greenville Avenue Bank.
Mrs. Burks was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Burks, and is survived by her brother, Dick Lee, of Tyler; step-children: Diane Foster of Garland, Bobby Burks of Dallas, and Helen Strain of Royce City. She is also survived by four nieces, Charlotte Crawford, Marzell Christian, Jan Laremore and Melinda Hands; three nephews, Clinton Lee, Roger "Rick" Lee, Jr., and Ken Lee; and several great-nieces and nephews.
