SOLOMON – Paul Bender, 67, of Solomon, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, in Wamego.

He was born May 16, 1943, in Valley City, N.D., the son of Ralph and Agnes Bender. He attended the local schools and graduated from Cooperstown High School in North Dakota.

He moved to Solomon in 1982. He retired from military services in 1992 after serving with the U.S. Navy, Kansas Army National Guard and the Delaware Aviation. He was a member of the Abilene and Solomon AA and the Skydivers over Sixty Club in Wamego. Bender was an experienced skydiver with more than 600 jumps.

Survivors include three sons, Jeff of Abilene, Jody of Columbus, Ohio, and Tim of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Jim of Cooperstown, N.D., and Rick of Clearwater, Minn.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home of Solomon with Fr. John Wolesky officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Solomon AA and left at the funeral home.
