Marlys J. Holmes, 69, of Virginia, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at her home. She was born on Feb. 21, 1942, in Thief River Falls, Minn., to Arthur and Hulda (Crytbak) Olson and grew up in Leonard, Minn., and graduated from the Clearbrook High School.
On May 27, 1961, she married Kenneth C. Holmes and they had resided in Virginia since 1965. She was a homemaker, and was of the Lutheran faith.
Marlys is survived by her children: Mary (Steve) Johnson, Craig (Robin) Holmes, and Sonia Amundson; grandchildren: Miranda (Adam) Hooker, Adam Johnson and Sara Johnson, Destiny Holmes, Cindy Holmes and Lucy Holmes, Noah Amundson and Sophie Amundson; brothers: Gordon (Karen) Olson and Sonny (Cedy) Olson; and sisters: Helen (Cliff) Cavitt and Betty (Chris) Merseth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Holmes in 2006; two brothers and two sisters.
Burial was at East Clover Cemetery in Leonard, Minn.
