Florence Matthews Lloyd, 96, of Radnor passed away Saturday morning (Aug 6, 2011) at Delaware Court Health Care where she resided for the past 4 ½ years.
She was born on July 14, 1915 in Caledonia, Ohio to the late Wesley J Matthews and Ella (Hinds) Strawser Matthews of Larue. She was a graduate and Valedictorian of Larue High School class of 1933 and then graduated from Marion Business College in 1936. She retired from Marion Power Shovel where she was Executive Secretary for 36 years. While at Marion Power Shovel she met Stanley D. Lloyd whom she married December 24, 1965. Her family is so blessed to have had her in their life. She was a frugal woman with great faith and kindness and loved her faithful companion Tom Kat.
She is survived by step-daughters Doris Penry and Sue (Jim) Winget of Radnor. Grandchildren Matthew (Kendra) Penry, Michael Penry, Tod Russell, Travis (Flo) Russell, Melissa (Jason) Straka, thirteen great grandchildren, nephews Howard (Linda) Klem of Marion, Neil (Charlotte) Shrock of Lake Erie, Kenneth Shrock of Las Vegas, Allen (Mary Lou) Shrock of Lake Erie and David (Jill) Shrock of Lake Erie.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law David Penry, grandson Troy Russell, brother Lowell Matthews, sister Bernice (Matthews) Shrock, half-sisters Dorothy (Strawser) Klehm and Margaret (Strawser)Holt Schnoor and nephew Paul Matthews.
Florence was a member of Central Community Baptist Church of Waldo, Prospect Senior Citizens and the Jolly Joysters Club.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 – 7 PM with a service to follow at 7 PM at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home in Delaware. Interment will be in Radnor Cemetery.
