Jacob was adopted by Arie Benjamin DeHaan and his first wife Sarah. They also adopted two more sons; Arie Benjamin Jr. and James (Rex) DeHaan. After Sarah passed away, his father married Marion and to that marriage a daughter, Jaqueline, was born.
Jake first married Esther Rudd and had three children; Deanna, Douglas, and Mark. They later divorced and Jake married Lavelle. To this marriage two children were born; Tawnya and Jacob Victor Jr.
Jake was killed in a car accident when his car hit a bridge underpass three days before Christmas.
