He was born April 10, 1920, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, the son of Daisy Bessie Slater and Franklin Hibbard Dingman.
He grew up in Klamath Falls and attended Klamath Union High School. He married Doris (Eleanor) Elnora Maxwell on May 19, 1937, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She died on May 12, 1997, in Overton, Nevada.
He worked in Lumber Mills and the Fire Department in Klamath Falls, Oregon and was captain of the fire dept. at the Idaho National Laboratory. He retired in Overton, Nevada.
He served as president of the Oregon State Fire Fighters Association.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter in Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, and Alaska and was active in square dancing throughout the area.
He liked being outside, woodworking, rock hunting, camping and visiting with people in what he called lying and bragging.
He is survived by: daughter: Doris Anne Wells of Idaho Falls; son: Frank Edward Dingman of Island Park, ID; grandchildren: Lori (Ken) Willmore of Idaho Falls; Pam (Jim) Barnes of Idaho Falls; Tammi (Travis) Fife of Idaho Falls; Tracy Smith of Twin Falls; Joshua (Nicole) Dingman of Idaho Falls; Dane Dingman of Idaho Falls; Jaime Dingman of Idaho Falls; Edd (Brandi) Dingman of Idaho Falls; 20 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor; great-grandson Zachary Smith; and his son-in-law, Ellis Wells.
