Born in Center Township and the oldest of five daughters, 'Minnie' always aspired to be much more through higher education that was unavailable to her. Most of her life was spent at Elmwood. She tried her hand at catering with limited success after spending time in Colorado acquiring some culinary skills as a servant to an acquaintance's family. She clearly had much more urban interests while existing in a much more rural lifestyle. At some point in the first decade of the 20th century, Minnie decided to take on the task to gather and compile the genealogy as was available for her maternal Miles family in America. She completed this project about 1909 while living with her parents, but continued to make updates, as necessary, until her early death.
